Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation

Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (SSS) has signed a partnership agreement with Prologis, the global leader in logistics real estate, for collaboration on addressing logistics challenges in 2024 and beyond.*

Effective from April 2024, the Japanese government enforced a new regulation limiting overtime work for truck drivers resulting in labor shortages in the logistics industry, impacting supply chain efficiencies throughout all industry sectors. With decreased transportation capacity, the logistics industry is facing challenges in streamlining transportation efficiencies and delivery schedules while adhering to the new compliance standards.

In this partnership, SSS’s edge AI sensing platform AITRIOS™ and Prologis’ consulting team will provide logistics solutions for improved supply chain efficiency to Prologis customers and logistics facilities users to resolve truck drivers’ labor shortage in the logistics industry.

The two companies will pursue the following initiatives:

  • Introduction of a gate, berth, and truck number recognition solution to collect and collate data to visualize waiting/loading times at truck berths
  • Introduction of a truck load efficiency recognition solution to optimize transport management and mitigate truck transportation shortages, etc.

* This initiative is currently conducted in Japan, only.
